Thing #7: Wikis


After spending some time looking at the Wikis presented all I saw were a lot of words.  The wikis were very basic, boring, and filled blue/black colored font.  It was hard for me to get passed the shock of so much reading.  Yes, I know research takes time especially when you're learning new material but, there is more than one way to learn about something that you don't know.  I am a visual learner and I learn best by physically doing things. With this particular assignment It would have been better for me to view videos and pictures.  Wikis should come with some form of personality, creativity, and hook.  Wikis should  draw ones attention and capture our minds to want to know more about what we are learning.  Most of the educational wiki winners brought creativity to their sites which captured my attention.  They were filled with colors, pictures, and videos.  The interchanging of fonts and sizes letters added to the fun of the sites.  For teachers, I believe their wikis should represent their personality and styles while also producing quality information for their profession and their future learners.  Here are some links to creative Wikis:
